Stop Watching, Start Writing

Script Frenzy: Having reached the end of my outstanding reviews the site’s going to slow down a little for the rest of April. Main reason for this: Script Frenzy! it’s basically a collective effort to get as many movie buffs as possible into writing a script. It may be a week in already but it’s not too late to join. The site’s got loads of awesome writer’s resources, links to scrip writing software, and has a great community vibe. All this makes it the shot in the arm that your project’s sorely needing (definitely helped my one get off the ground!!). Here’s some info on the whole shebang:

Official Script Frenzy Site

  1. I didn’t know you wrote screenplays, Paul. I do as well. If you ever get the time, drop me an e-mail and tell me about some of the stuff you’ve written or are writing… I’d love to hear!

    • Not an official writer, got about a dozen pages of my first idea at the moment, it’s been kicking around in my head for a few years now so just getting the best bits down on paper.. This will be stagnant ’til my better half is working in another city for two weeks later in April – that will be GAME ON!

I’ll give you a buzz when there’s something more substantial. Also, happy to do a bit of proof-reading / reviewing if you need a second opinion on anything you’ve got at the moment – providing it’s not a 3,000 page EPIC!!! :)

      • Were you talking to me? I hope so cuz I’m answering. I have a finished full length that a friend at New Regency just gave me notes on. I’m working on a new one now that, if you want, I’ll send you when I’m done and it’s registered with the WGA. Also have a couple of shorts. Do you know about structuring a script and things like that. If you don’t, get a book on it… even a silly one like Syd Field’s… if you don’t have a structure layed out before you start you will lose your way. Trust me!!!

  3. EXT. PUBLIC PARK

Paul is typing a response to Kai, frantically typing before a big-ass black cloud reaches him.

Yea, picked up the basics of standardised script-writing from the frenzy website. Also, downloaded some script writing software (Celtx) which is totally easing the pain a good bit. My original bunch of ideas was just a huge mess in a word doc.

Notes from New Regency eh? Sounds like you’ve got something special there. Is this 2nd script an improved and superior version of the first or a new film entirely?

    • 2nd script is a different film… first idea I ever had… bit of a drama told in an interesting manner.
If you can, find someone who has Final Draft and burn a copy. I’d burn you one but mine is burned. It’s by far the easiest to use… though I’ve never heard of Celtx so maybe it’s better! Drop me an e-mail some time and we can swap tales of our stories! :)
