- Oldboy – Korean Masterpiece, favourite film of all time
- Kill Bill I – Action-o-rama, heavy on the homage though
- Lilja-4-Ever – Excellent story, moving and powerful
- Welcome To The Dollhouse – Awkward teenage epic
- Fucking Amal – Lesbians, love, teenagers and parties.
- Only Human – Like ‘meet the parents’… but not a pile of shit
- Love Me If You Dare – Sexy and funny french romp about life-long romance
- Goodfellas – The boss of all gangster movies – who needs a trilogy?
- Primer – Possibly the best sci-fi film ever.
- Memento – Murder mystery told backwards
- Children of Men – Fantastic but believable sci-fi
- Happiness – Several families… totally fucked up… great black comedy
- The Fall – The best-looking film in history?
- Together – Slow burner but payload at the end is phenomenal
- In Bruges – 2 Irish hitmen in Bruges, subtle comedy gold
- BASEketball. – Slapstick comedy classic with South Park creators
This website is ace! You missed off the Princess Bride though, that is a classic.
Surprised to see Happiness on your list. It’s an underrated favorite of mine as well. It’s also one of three movies my cousin asked me to never show him again.
I was also pleased to see The Fall among your favorites. It truly is a masterpiece of cinema.
Goodfellas is my favorite movie! Like you said, who needs a trilogy? It has it all in one kick ass movie!
Memento is by far one of the best movies ever made. Children of God, Primer, all great picks. Surprisingly, there are a good handful of films I haven’t seen on this list so I will make a note and put them in my Netflix queue.
My favorite movie is Dead Poets Society. I know, sappy. But it’s all about the place and time that I watched it. Carpe Diem! :-)
Definitely chuck the rest on your Netflix! 100% recommended.
I’ve never seen the Dead Poet’s Society. Looks like the books equivalent of what Cinema Paradiso is to movies?
Nice list.
What about Bicycle Thieves or Pan’s Labyrinth or M or Let the Right One In…………?
Some classics there! The Bicycle Thieves I’ve not seen since my uni days, as with M (but I just realised it’s in the list of films in the public domain, so downloading it now). Got the Pan’s Labrynth Blu Ray in my ‘to watch’ pile – will jump it up the que. As for LTROI, wasn’t my bag, although if you like it I’d STRONGLY recommend the Lukas Moodysson box set – it’s immense.

I 10000000000% love this list for the fact you included BASEketball. One of my favorite comedies of all-time. Anyone who doubts Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s comedic genius needs to see this because it could’ve fallen way flat without them.
Sorry I’m a bit late to the party, but anyone who cites ‘The Fall’ as a Top Movie is all right in my book.
